A Creative Spark that Grows in the Dark

Well, it's that time again. Pluto is crossing over a border. The last time that "the wealthy one" crossed over into a new sign within the Tropical Zodiac was in late 2008 when it embarked on a [relatively] long voyage across the cosmic sea of goats. As March 23rd, 2023 approaches, less of a shoreline and more of a nebulous expanse of ideological gas dawns upon the horizon for the dwarf planet named after the Lord of the Underworld. This Springtime transition marks the beginning of a new generation; a shift in cultural motivation; a revelation of past presents by way of their sudden absence. Some will feel this shift in the undercurrents of their lives at first while others will completely miss the tempo shift in the silent song of the cosmos. All of us though, are in for a radical realignment of our relationships with death, love and money.
Pluto is a [mostly] hidden ruler that influences and manipulates from the realm of shadow. It moves to the beat of its own elliptical (specifically different than the other planets in our solar system) and it keeps its hoard of treasures and riches under cloak and veil much in the same way that the rarest (unfound) elements of the Earth are the ones that have simply remained hidden within the soils and stones of the land. Unlike the raw minerals of the physical world which can be extracted and refined by one with appropriate effort and knowledge, Pluto bestows its treasures upon its subjects in unreachable and often unexplainable ways. Considering its 248 year orbit cycle, it's quite easy to forget to account for the influence of this wealthy dungeon master when we are going about our day-to-day dealings. Who has the attention span to keep track of a cycle that takes at least three lifetimes to complete (given our current model of timekeeping)? But it would certainly be wise to keep a routinely conscientious eye on that small speck of value that orbits around the outer edge of our psyches in an excruciatingly slow and seemingly boring way. In this exploration, we aim to take a closer look at the potential impacts of the Lord of Death entering the House of the Sky God for the first time in two and a half centuries. First, we ask the world of fire.
The world of fire is one that makes giants out of sleeping trees and brings colour to the grey. It's both lavish and light and it demonstrates the great story of how a smouldering ash is what keeps the world connected and provides seekers with pilgrimage throughout the ages. Whether we are dancing around one, gazing into the light of one or reheating our daily morsels atop the power of one, fire is simply the spice of life that keeps things moving. As Pluto makes its initial crossing into the sign of Aquarius in 2023, it breathes a creative bellow into the base of the Lords of Fire, awakening the spirit of desire and challenging them to reinvent how they go about getting what they want. This incoming transit is one that will Reform the Ram, Levitate the Lion and Advance the Archer. All of this in due time of course as Pluto (Hades, or "Hidden" ) takes a great deal of time getting anywhere and it doesn't make its methods of assisting human evolution very clear or accessible for anyone.

ARIES - the Awakened One in the House of Technicolour Skies
The lessons you have been wrestling with recently could perhaps feel like the final hours of a battle that, you are becoming more and more aware, is more like a war. This phase has been building towards a rite of passage that challenges how you stand in your life. You have been learning, testing, and discovering which values call forth your heart’s purpose and which laws and conditions need to be reconstructed around your ability to influence. You may be reaching a point now where you are seeing the end of a mission that has felt like it has taken all of your energy and spirit. And where you are heading, over the next year especially, you will be at a vantage to see a new horizon of possibility opening to you as a result of this changed perspective of what you are truly here to do. Whether that’s in work, in passion, in side projects, in activism - now that you have tested the structures of where and how you invest your energy, you are ready to face and radically question the conditions around you and others that are ready to evolve for you. Allow yourself to avoid people, ideals, and goals that you feel are ruthless, shallow, and misaligned with this new mountain you stand on. Allow your aspirations to be regenerated as you traverse this new frontier.

LEO - the Exalted One in the House of Neutral Winds
They say that “our body is our temple”, and you have been deeply embedded in a phase that has truly tested what it means to tend to your self. The tending of a temple, of a reputation, of a routine, of the conscious choices and “next steps” we take a million times a day - all of these efforts have been both under the microscope and blocking the horizon. When our day-to-day existence feels like the only thing we can focus on, sometimes we can feel trapped by our circumstances. Or when we ignore the needs and signals from our body around the build up of stress, emotions, strain, or other pressures, it will knock us down flat without much choice to keep “pushing through” it. As you’ve been walking your way through this dance, you have been called to transform and regenerate your body, mind, and spirit. Even a “delay” can be a beautiful redirection for the growth you have been searching for. And with this new understanding of how you want to walk in the world, you will look to those around you from your inner light. Now that you have done the work to integrate your self into your routines and practices, you will begin to radically challenge, seek, and transform your closest, most intimate relationships to align with how you hold your self to be.

SAGITTARIUS - the Inspired One in the House of the Speaking Mirrors
Nothing can keep you down for long, but there is a really good chance that the Universe threw a really good shot at you in this last phase, especially in recent years. You have been tested. Hard. The purpose of this time has been to radically reconstruct the core of your values, which could feel like the very ground you have been trying to stand on. Maybe it’s a good thing that you can at least levitate for a while, as you may have found comfort hopping from one spot to another in hopes of finding solid footing. The tricky thing about overhauling our values is that this metamorphosis can sometimes require so much transformation that we are required to tear it all down in order to rebuild it again. And as the rebuild of what you find alignment within your core begins to crystalize, your attitudes towards what surrounds you, keeps you safe, and fills you with joy has very likely had the veil pulled right off. With this new lens on the world and a new filter for evaluating what is important to you, how you communicate and share and relate to your immediate environment will be required to change shape to compliment your new foundations. Don’t assume you are wrong about everything that used to be familiar and now feels off - see if you can observe your surroundings through your new, inner eye as you move forward into your next phase.

Fire is for everyone and everyone depends on it. It illuminates the dark [ignorance] and it imbues the cold [contraction] of existence with ceaseless expansion. It keeps us dancing and singing and praying before the great light of spirit in phenomenal diversity; true creation.
